Attach a document or spreadsheet to the AI Bar and ask about it — summaries, key terms, data extraction — or turn a spreadsheet into contacts.
Steps
- Open the AI Bar (Ctrl+K) and click 📎, or drag the file onto the bar. Up to 3 files, 15 MB each.
- Accepted: .xlsx, .xls, .csv, .ods spreadsheets; .docx, .pdf, .txt documents; and images (jpeg, png, gif, webp).
- A chip shows what was read — for a spreadsheet, every sheet and its row count — so you can tell it picked up the right thing before asking anything.
- Ask your question: "summarise this", "what are the payment terms", or for a spreadsheet "import the Mark sheet as contacts".
- An import always previews first (rows, which column maps to which field, how many rows lack an email) and writes nothing until you confirm.
Good to know
- Attachments stay for the whole conversation, so "now import it" works as a follow-up. They are cleared when you close the bar.
- After importing a list you can say "research the ones missing an email" to enrich them, then "write emails to that list about <your offer>" to draft an outreach sequence (created as a draft — nothing sends until you activate it).
- Messy research sheets are handled: a cell holding "(302) 555-1212 / info@acme.com" is split into Phone and Email, and notes columns become custom fields.
- A .docx or .pdf is read as text for questions — only spreadsheets can be imported as contacts.
Example: A buyer's agent uploads the 38-page property disclosure PDF the seller just sent. She asks: "what stands out — anything that affects the offer?" The AI surfaces "roof replaced 2008 (15+ yrs old, may need re-roof in 5 yrs), foundation crack noted in 2019 inspection, undisclosed rental on accessory unit". 90 seconds vs. an hour of squinting at PDFs.
