LinkedIn Outreach Cadence (multi-touch follow-up)

A pre-built workflow template that runs a multi-touch LinkedIn prospecting sequence: it reminds you to message a prospect every few days and tracks responses. Because LinkedIn's API forbids automated direct messages (tools that auto-DM use browser bots that get accounts banned), each touch is a TASK reminder you action — but the timing, reminders, response tracking, and link-click tracking are all automated.

Steps

  1. Go to Automation > Templates and add the "LinkedIn Outreach Cadence" template (Sales category). Toggle it Active.
  2. To enroll a prospect, open their contact and add the tag "linkedin-outreach". That's the trigger — the cadence starts immediately.
  3. The cadence creates Touch 1 (connect + intro), waits 3 days, Touch 2 (follow-up), waits 4 days, Touch 3 (share a tracked link), waits 5 days, Touch 4 (break-up), then flags the contact and tags "linkedin-no-response".
  4. Each touch appears as a Task. Open it, send the actual message in LinkedIn, and mark the task done.
  5. When the prospect replies (their message lands in Conversations), mark them Replied and REMOVE the "linkedin-outreach" tag to end the cadence.

Good to know

  • Paste a normal link in your LinkedIn message — CRMown auto-wraps it in a tracked redirect, so you can see exactly which prospect clicked and when (Contact timeline).
  • You can edit the template's wait times and task wording to match your style.
  • Use it alongside personal-profile posting (Marketing > Social) to warm prospects with content before you reach out.
Example: A consultant tags 15 new prospects "linkedin-outreach" on Monday. Over the next two weeks CRMown surfaces a daily task list — "Touch 2 for Dana", "Touch 3 for Sam" — spaced out automatically. Six reply; she marks them Replied (cadence stops) and books calls. The other nine auto-tag "linkedin-no-response" for a later email pass. No spreadsheet, no forgotten follow-ups.

Troubleshooting

The cadence didn't start after I tagged the contact
The workflow isn't Active, or the tag wasn't exactly "linkedin-outreach".
Fix: Automation > confirm the template workflow is Active. Re-check the tag spelling on the contact (it must match the trigger tag exactly).
A prospect replied but still got the next follow-up task
The cadence is time-based — it can't auto-detect a LinkedIn reply (LinkedIn has no reply webhook). It keeps running until you stop it.
Fix: When someone replies, remove the "linkedin-outreach" tag (and mark them Replied). The remaining touches reference this in their task notes.
I expected CRMown to send the LinkedIn message automatically
LinkedIn's API does not allow automated/bulk direct messages; automating sends risks an account ban.
Fix: Send each message yourself from the task reminder. CRMown automates everything around it — timing, reminders, response + click tracking.
