Using Comm Pro
Comm Pro is a built-in Slack-style team chat designed to replace your standalone Slack workspace — channels, DMs, threads, file sharing, search, and notifications, all inside CRMown so messages live next to the contacts and deals they're about. It also supports shared channels with external contacts and automatic client chat rooms.
Steps
- Go to Comm Pro from the sidebar (requires Comm Pro suite).
- Browse or create channels for different topics or teams.
- Click any channel to view messages and reply.
- Use the "+" button to create a new channel or start a DM.
- Share files by dragging them into the message area.
- Translate any message: hover the message → click the 🌐 icon → it swaps to your effective language. Click "Show original" to flip back. Cached so re-clicks are instant.
Good to know
- Shared channels allow email-verified external users to participate.
- Client chat auto-creates a DM room when a new client is added.
- AI features: catch-up summaries, smart compose, and smart replies — all rendered in your effective language (User.locale → Org.primaryLanguage → English).
- Catch-up uses the *reader's* language so the summary reads naturally. Compose + smart replies use the *writer's* language so suggested text matches what you'd actually send.
- Messages between teammates are NOT auto-translated — they pass through verbatim. Use the per-message 🌐 button when you need a translation; it's private to you (sender has no signal).
- See the "Languages & Translation" article under Settings & Administration for the full multilingual reference.
Example: A 12-person agency runs internal channels (#general, #design, #engineering) plus a shared client channel for each retainer customer. When a new client signs the MSA, CRMown auto-spins #client-acme — the AE, the PM, and the client's 2 stakeholders are added immediately and the project kickoff doc is pinned. After PTO, the AE clicks "AI Catch-Up" and gets a 5-bullet summary of what she missed in #client-acme over a week.
Troubleshooting
Power dialer not making calls
Twilio not configured, or phone numbers not verified.
Fix: Set up Twilio credentials in Settings > Communications > Phone. Verify your Twilio phone number is active and has calling capability.
Chat widget AI not responding intelligently
Knowledge base is empty, or the AI agent isn't linked to the widget.
Fix: Web Studio > Chat Widgets > edit > verify the AI Agent is selected. AI Agent > Knowledge Base — add entries. The AI only knows what's in the knowledge base.
Plans
Comm Pro suite required. Included in Pro and Max plans.
