Lead Gen Overview — How the 10 Features Fit Together

CRMown's Lead Generation suite is 10 features that fan out from one mental model: define who your ideal customer is (F1), find them at scale (F2/F4/F7), reach them (F3/F8), capture them (F5/F6), grow them virally (F9), and measure everything in one dashboard (F10). Lead Gen is included on every plan — Starter, Pro, and Max — with per-feature monthly caps that scale by plan. The Marketing suite is now positioned as "remove every Lead Gen cap" plus campaigns, content, and social publishing.

Steps

  1. Start at Tools → Lead Generation → Dashboard (or /dashboard/leadgen). The Lead Generation group in the sidebar is collapsed by default — click it to open its items. Keyboard: tap g then l to jump straight here, or Cmd/Ctrl+K for the command bar (shift+? lists every shortcut) — that's the cross-channel funnel + AI recommendations dashboard (F10) that ties every other feature together. The usage meter at the top shows your current-month consumption against your plan's caps.
  2. Set up your ICP first at Tools > Lead Generation > ICP (or /dashboard/icp) — the AI builds your Ideal Customer Profile from your existing won customers in 3 minutes (F1). Every other feature reads from this. Starter gets 1 build/month; Pro+ is unlimited.
  3. Pick how you want to source leads: outbound prospecting (F2 — Apollo People Search, capped per month), inbound capture (F4 visitor ID, F5 chatbot, F6 lead magnets — each capped per month), or referrals from existing customers (F9).
  4. Reach out at scale via F3 outbound sequences (multi-step email cadences from your own Gmail/Outlook). On Starter the AI SDR (F8) runs in simulate mode — it shows you what it would do but does not send. Pro activates real sending at 10/day; Max at 50/day.
  5. F7 intent signals always detects and stores signals; on Starter the in-app feed is read-only. Pro+ (or Marketing suite) fires realtime notifications when high-strength signals land.
  6. Watch the usage meter — when you approach a cap, either pace your usage or upgrade. Hitting the cap on a feature returns a graceful upgrade banner; existing data is preserved and counters reset on the 1st of each month.

Good to know

  • Plan caps (default values, may change): Starter — 100 prospects, 1 sequence, 100 sends, AI SDR simulate, 1 magnet, 100 visitor lookups, 50 chatbot conversations. Pro — 5x Starter caps + AI SDR full mode. Max — unlimited everything*. The Marketing suite collapses every numeric cap to unlimited* and bumps every mode to "full". *On unlimited plans, prospects + visitor lookups are subject to a 2,000/mo soft cap on the shared platform key (Apollo / IPinfo) — connect your own Apollo / IPinfo key under Settings → Integrations to make those features truly unlimited.
  • Build order matters: F1 (ICP) → F2/F3 (cold outreach) → F4/F5/F6 (inbound capture) → F7 (intent scoring) → F8 (autonomous SDR) → F9 (viral loop) → F10 (dashboard). Each layer uses the previous ones.
  • Mailbox policy across all outbound features (F3, F8, F9): emails send from the FEATURE CREATOR's connected Gmail/Outlook (OAuth) with Resend fallback. Connect your mailbox under Settings > Communications > Connected Accounts before activating.
  • BYOK Apollo: bringing your own Apollo key bypasses the per-result Apollo cost, but the plan-level monthly prospect-result cap still applies (it's an operational ceiling, not a cost ceiling). Marketing suite removes both.
  • Source attribution flows through every feature: Contact.source values like ai_prospecting, website_visitor, chatbot, form, referral are set automatically and feed the F10 dashboard channel breakdown.
Example: A 3-person SaaS startup signs up on Starter. They get the full Lead Gen surface immediately — they build an ICP from their 12 existing customers, run F2 prospecting up to 100 results, set up F3 outbound to 100 sends/month, install F4 tracking and capture 100 visitor lookups, generate 1 lead magnet, and let F5 chatbot handle 50 visitor conversations. They hit AI SDR in simulate mode and see "this is what it would do" — the dashboard shows would-be conversions for two weeks. By month-end the founder upgrades to Pro to lift caps 5x and activate AI SDR sending. Three months in they add the Marketing suite to remove every cap and unlock email campaigns + drip sequences.

Plans

Lead Gen surface is core on every plan (Starter, Pro, Max, Custom). Per-feature monthly caps are defined in PLANS[plan].leadGen and resolved via getLeadGenLimits(orgId), which collapses every cap to unlimited when the Marketing suite is active.
