Posting to LinkedIn (and sharing a blog post)

Personal-profile posting still works for anyone already connected that way.

Open in CRMown →

Steps

  1. Settings > Integrations > LinkedIn > Connect. The popup lists what CRMown will be able to do (see your Pages, post as your Page, read and reply to comments) — continue and approve on LinkedIn.
  2. Go to Marketing > Social > New Post, select LinkedIn, and choose the Page under "Post to LinkedIn as" (expired connections are greyed out).
  3. Write your update or paste a link (e.g. your blog post), add an image if you like, then publish now or schedule it.
  4. Comments on the Page's posts appear in Conversations (filter: LinkedIn) within about 30 minutes, one thread per commenter, named after the person or Page who commented. Reply in the thread and it posts on LinkedIn as your Page, under their comment.

Good to know

  • Images are uploaded to LinkedIn for you — just attach one in the composer. LinkedIn video posts are not supported yet.
  • Comment threads do NOT create contacts, lead scores or enrichment. LinkedIn only allows Page comment data to be used for managing your Page, so they live in Conversations only.
  • Comments are checked every 30 minutes, not instantly — LinkedIn limits how often apps can ask.
  • LinkedIn connections expire after about 60 days and can't be refreshed automatically. When a post fails with an expired-token message, click Reconnect on the LinkedIn card.
  • Disconnect (on the LinkedIn card) removes the stored LinkedIn token, asks LinkedIn to revoke it, and deletes the comment threads synced from that Page. Your posts on LinkedIn are not affected.
  • Sharing a blog link? LinkedIn shows a preview card pulled from the page's social/OG image — set the post's featured image and it appears automatically.
Example: A founder connects her company Page, posts "What are the top 5 things you need a CRM to do?" with an image from Marketing > Social, and 30 minutes later a comment from a prospect shows up in Conversations under the prospect's name. She replies from CRMown and the reply appears on LinkedIn as the company Page.

Troubleshooting

Post failed: "The token used in the request has expired"
The LinkedIn connection the post used has expired (about 60 days after connecting).
Fix: Reconnect LinkedIn in Settings > Integrations, then in the post choose the Page under "Post to LinkedIn as" and click Publish now.
A LinkedIn reply shows "Failed"
LinkedIn rejected the comment — hover over "Failed" to see LinkedIn's exact reason.
Fix: Most often the Page connection has expired (reconnect) or the original comment was deleted on LinkedIn.
A comment thread is named "LinkedIn member"
CRMown could not look up the commenter's name (LinkedIn returns only an ID with each comment).
Fix: Names are filled in on the next comment check when LinkedIn allows the lookup. The comment and replies still work.
A new comment hasn't appeared yet
Comments are checked every 30 minutes, and only on recent posts published from CRMown.
Fix: Wait for the next check (on the hour and half hour). Comments on posts made directly on LinkedIn, or older than two weeks, are not pulled in.
