# Screenshots — capture, annotate, and share

_Automation (Workflows)_

Yes — CRMown has a built-in screenshot tool; you do NOT need Snagit, Lightshot, or your OS screenshot key. Capture any tab, window, or your full screen (or upload an existing PNG/JPG/WEBP), then mark it up in a Snagit-style annotation editor and share it. Screenshots live alongside Screen Recordings under Tools and reuse the same storage, sharing, and AI-summary pipeline — the difference is a still image instead of a video. CRMown AI can also analyze the captured image (e.g. read an error, summarize a dashboard).

## Steps
1. Open the sidebar and click Tools > Screen Recordings, then click "+ New" and choose Screenshot — available on every plan. The AI Bar also has a 📷 camera button to grab or paste an image directly into a query.
2. Pick a mode: "Capture screen" (grabs a single frame from a tab, window, or full screen you pick in the browser share dialog) or "Upload from disk" (drag-drop or browse a PNG/JPG/WEBP).
3. For Capture screen: choose what to share in the browser dialog, frame what you want, then click Capture — CRMown grabs one frame and closes the share automatically.
4. The floating "Aim & capture" clicker now stays alive as you navigate between CRMown pages, so you can start a capture, browse to another screen in the app, and snap from there. Press ⌥⇧S (Alt+Shift+S) to capture without clicking the button. Tip: in the browser share dialog pick "Entire Screen" and the capture follows your whole monitor (across windows/apps); picking just "This Tab" limits it to that tab. The clicker still cannot overlay a DIFFERENT Chrome tab or another app (browser security) — for those use "Capture in 3s/5s" then switch focus before the countdown ends.
5. Optionally annotate: the Snagit-style editor gives you six tools — Arrow, Rectangle, Text, Highlight, Blur (to redact sensitive info), and Pen — plus color, stroke width, and undo/redo.
6. Give it a title (required), then click "Save & analyze". CRMown AI can generate a summary/keywords for the image, and it is stored with a shareable link just like a recording.
7. Share with a public link, embed in a Knowledge Base article, or attach it to a contact, deal, task, or SOS ticket.

## Tips
- The Blur tool is for redacting — cover API keys, emails, or customer data before you share a screenshot externally.
- A screenshot is just a still Screen Recording under the hood (mediaType derived from the image), so everything you know about sharing, visibility, and KB embedding works identically.
- Fastest path for a quick grab: the AI Bar 📷 button — paste or capture an image and ask CRMown AI about it ("what does this error mean?", "summarize this dashboard").

## Example
A support rep captures a customer's error screen, uses the Blur tool to redact the account email, adds a red arrow to the failing field, and drops the share link into the SOS ticket — no third-party screenshot app, and the annotated image is searchable in CRMown.

## Troubleshooting
- **Browser share dialog is empty / nothing to pick when using Capture screen** — Same OS-level screen-capture permission as Screen Recordings — the browser lacks screen-recording permission. Fix: macOS: System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen & System Audio Recording > enable your browser, then quit and reopen it. Windows: allow screen capture when prompted.
- **I only see video recording, not screenshots** — Screenshots and recordings share the same tool under Tools > Screen Recordings. Fix: Open Tools > Screen Recordings and use the Screenshot / Capture-screen option (or the AI Bar 📷 button). If the whole tool is missing, the org is not on the Automation suite (Pro+).

## Plans
Screenshots ride on the Screen Recordings feature — Automation suite (Pro+). Starter/Free: not available.
