# GPS Trip Tracker & Mileage Log

_Mobile App (iOS & Android)_

The mobile app tracks business drives via the phone's GPS — start/stop a trip with one tap, distance and duration calculate live (Haversine math), and the trip auto-tags with the IRS deduction rate so the year-end mileage report writes itself.

## Steps
1. More > Tracker > Trip GPS > Start. The phone records your route in the background until you tap Stop.
2. Manual entry: More > Tracker > Trip Manual for trips you forgot to log live (enter from / to / miles).
3. Tag each trip Business / Medical / Charity — each uses the matching IRS rate (Business $0.70/mi for 2026, Medical $0.21, Charity $0.14).
4. Expenses (parking, tolls, gas) attach to a trip via More > Tracker > Expense — snap a receipt photo and it files under the trip.
5. Year-end: in the mobile app, go to More > Tracker > Export and download a CSV or PDF mileage log for your accountant.

## Tips
- Background GPS is battery-aware — the app uses location updates only while a trip is active, then releases the GPS handle when you tap Stop.
- Dropped signal (tunnels, parking garages) interpolates the gap — total mileage is still accurate within ~5%.
- The 2026 IRS rates are baked into the app; they'll update on the first deploy of January 2027.

## Example
An independent agent drives 12 stops in a day — listings, inspection, lender meeting, lunch with a referral source. She taps Start at the driveway and Stop at home. The app logs the route, total = 87 miles, $60.90 deductible. After 12 months her CSV export shows 14,200 deductible miles = $9,940 — a tax write-off she would have missed without continuous tracking.

## Troubleshooting
- **GPS trip records 0 miles or freezes mid-trip** — Location permission is set to "While Using" instead of "Always" (so the OS suspended location updates when you switched apps), or Low Power Mode throttled the background GPS. Fix: Phone Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > CRMown > Always. Turn off Low Power Mode for long drives, or rely on manual entry as a fallback.
- **Trip total is way off from what the odometer says** — Sustained GPS dropout (long tunnels, dense urban canyons) causes the route to be interpolated as a straight line — usually under-reports vs. the actual driven path. Fix: Edit the trip and set the miles manually — the IRS deduction recalculates against the corrected number.

## Plans
GPS tracker is free on all plans. Expense receipts use your storage provider quota; AI receipt OCR uses the monthly AI token budget.
