# Communications Setup

_Settings & Administration_

Connect email/calendar accounts (Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Calendly, custom IMAP), set up SMS via Twilio (carrier + phone number provisioning), and pick a file storage provider.

## Steps
1. Go to Settings > Communications. The tab has three collapsible sections.
2. Connected Accounts — OAuth into Gmail / Microsoft 365 / iCloud / Calendly, or add a custom IMAP/SMTP mailbox. Used for inbox sync and outbound 1:1 mail.
3. SMS & WhatsApp — connect Twilio (Account SID + Auth Token), then search & buy phone numbers from inside the same panel.
4. File Storage — pick a storage provider (Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Azure Blob, Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, DigitalOcean Spaces, Wasabi, or local).

## Tips
- Outbound platform email (welcome/billing/etc.) ships via Resend at the platform level — no per-org SES form to fill out.
- For 1:1 user-to-contact email, the system uses your connected Gmail / Outlook account first, then falls back to the platform sender.

## Example
Day-1 setup for a new SMB: the owner connects Gmail (their main mailbox) under Connected Accounts, buys a Twilio number under SMS & WhatsApp, and picks Google Drive for File Storage. Total time: 12 minutes. Email replies route from her own Gmail address, SMS goes through the new business number (not her personal cell), and uploaded files land in her existing Drive structure.

## Troubleshooting
- **Sync shows "Error" status with a red badge** — OAuth token expired and auto-refresh failed, or Google/Microsoft revoked the app's access. Fix: Click Disconnect, then reconnect — generates a fresh OAuth token. If you recently changed your Google/Microsoft password, you must reconnect.

## Error messages
- `OAuth token expired` — Click Disconnect then reconnect your account.
- `Insufficient permissions` — During Google/Microsoft connect, you must check ALL permission boxes on the consent screen.
- `Account already connected` — This Google/Microsoft account is already linked. Disconnect the old connection first.
