Send Email From Your Own Domain (and Your Own Resend Account)

Verify your domain so campaigns and messages come From your real address (e.g. news@yourorg.org) instead of CRMown's address with your name on it. Optionally connect your own Resend account so that mail bills to you and builds your own sender reputation.

Steps

  1. Settings → Communications → Send from your own domain → enter your domain → Add domain.
  2. Click "DNS records" and add each record at your DNS host (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap…). Click "Check now" after publishing; we also keep checking automatically.
  3. Once it shows "Verified", choose an address at that domain as your sending address and campaigns go out From it.
  4. Optional — your own Resend account: in the same section, "Use your own Resend account" → paste a Resend API key (starts with re_, Full access) → Validate & Save. Owners/admins only; you'll be asked to confirm your identity.
  5. Domains added AFTER saving your key are created in your Resend account (they show a "Your Resend account" badge). Mail From those domains is sent with your key.

Good to know

  • Until a domain is verified, mail goes out from CRMown's address with your address as Reply-To — it still delivers, nothing is lost.
  • DNS changes usually appear within an hour but can take up to 48 hours. "Waiting on DNS" is normal, not an error.
  • Your Resend key is only used for mail From domains in your Resend account. Login codes, invites and other system email always come from CRMown.
  • A domain you verified before connecting your Resend key stays on CRMown's account. To move it to yours, remove it and add it again, then publish the new DNS records Resend gives you (Resend can't transfer domains between accounts).
  • Opens and clicks are tracked the same either way. Bounce and spam-complaint handling isn't available yet for mail sent on your own Resend account.
  • Trial email limits don't apply to mail sent on your own Resend account.

Troubleshooting

Settings shows "Last send failed" under Use your own Resend account
Resend rejected your key — it was deleted, revoked, or lacks sending permission. Emails From your Resend-account domains are NOT sent with CRMown's account instead.
Fix: Create a new Full-access key in Resend, click Replace, paste it, and re-send the affected emails.
"Resend rejected this key" when saving
The key is wrong or is a restricted key without domain access.
Fix: In Resend → API Keys, create a key with Full access and paste it again.
After removing my Resend key, campaigns come from CRMown's address again
Domains in your Resend account can only be sent from with your key.
Fix: Add your key back, or remove and re-add the domain to put it on CRMown's account.
Domain says "This domain is in your Resend account. Add your Resend API key again to manage it."
The domain was created with your Resend key, which has since been removed.
Fix: Add the key back under Use your own Resend account, then click Check now.
